Drammen Handball Club was founded on March 3, 1992.It was after the general meetings of the two clubs Reistad IL (Lier) and IF Sturla (Drammen) decided to form the "superstructure club" DHK after NHF had given its consent to the merger of the respective clubs senior departments.The club got a "flying start" when Reistad ILs handball champions moved into the elite series the same season.
Thus, DHK could debut in the Drammenshallen in the autumn of 92 as an elite series team.
DHK failed to hold the place and moved into 2nd div.
spring 93.
The season after, the team went straight up into the elite series again, this time with Kent Harry Anderson as coach.
This was to be the start of an adventurous rally for handball enthusiasts.
